I changed phone — how do I move my eSIM?

Modified on Sat, 30 May at 10:02 AM

If you changed phone and want to move your Somtel eSIM to the new device, you usually need to
transfer or reissue the eSIM. An eSIM profile normally does not move automatically like a physical SIM.
Option 1: Use built-in eSIM transfer (if supported)
Some phones support direct transfer.
iPhone to iPhone
Settings > Cellular / Mobile Data > Add eSIM
Choose Transfer from Nearby iPhone (if offered)
Android
Depends on brand/model (Samsung, Pixel, etc.)
Option 2: Scan a new QR code
Most carriers require a new activation QR code for the new phone.
1. Remove/deactivate old eSIM if instructed.
2. On new phone:
iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM
Android: Settings > SIM Manager / Network > Add eSIM
3. Scan the new QR code from Somtel.
